A Note from Kathryn Braxton

Dear Friends:

Welcome to Learning to Learn®. Having worked with LTL for almost 30 years, I'm happy to have the opportunity to introduce the 7th edition of the

LTL college textbook to new LTL students and instructors.

I want you to feel comfortable as you start to use LTL. The skills in this system will come easily to you, because they're all built on natural learning skills &endash; the skills you use every day without thinking about them. Every time you cross a street in traffic, or find a bargain at the supermarket, you're asking yourself questions about what's in front of you &endash; Where's there a break in the traffic? Which brand is least expensive? But you probably drop these questioning skills when you learn in school. Like most students, you try to memorize and memorize, until learning is just a chore.

LTL will bring back the feeling and excitement about learning new things that you had when you were first learning about the world, before school and tests. You'll build on your natural questioning skills, and "translate" back and forth between what you see and what you think about &endash; the verbal and visual parts of learning. You'll even feel that you've "beat the system" by predicting exam questions &endash; and you'll actually learn more in a deeper way.

If you're a new LTL instructor, I'm sure you'll be as excited as I always am when I teach LTL to find how easy it can be to help students discover their natural talents, to find out how gifted they are. Please feel welcome to call me at any time if you have questions or concerns about how to help your students get the most out of LTL.

Regards,

Kathryn Braxton,
Director of Training
